If you didn’t know already, you should know that I love music. I’m a music addict. I listen to it all day, every day.
So, to fill all the hours, I have to continually search for new music to listen to. I’ve recently come across a couple of performers that I really like, so I’m going to take a minute to tell you about them.

Dialog

The first artist I want to tell you about is Res (pronounced “Reese”). She’s a 23-year-old singer from Philadelphia. Not only does she have an amazing voice, she also has a totally unique style. The songs on her album range from rock, to hip-hop, to folk, to jazz, to soul…
Res’ first single, “Golden Boys” is a good example of her diverse influences. You can listen to it at MP3.com > CLICK HERE
Musical diversity is important to me. I get bored easily, so Gorillaz have quickly become one of my favorite music groups. Made up of members of several different bands, Gorillaz is the first virtual hip-hop band.
Instead of actual people, Gorillaz is made up of animated characters. 2-D is the cute singer/keyboardist. Murdoc is the spooky bassist and the brains behind the group. The drummer, Russel, is possessed by phantoms. And Noodle, a ten-year-old Japanese guitar player, is a martial arts master.

Discussion

While their music sounds completely different, Res and Gorillaz are similar in many ways. Both create music that sounds like nothing else out there, and both are influenced by hip-hop.
I encourage you to check out both of them, because they’ll blow you away.
Have you heard Res or Gorillaz? Do you like their music? Come to the Music Mix message board and let us know!
Take it easy,
Migs
