Steph: Derek, who was that woman we were listening to last Friday?
Derek: Oh yeah. That was, uh, * Martina Topley-Bird.
Steph: Cool. She was really good. Where’d you hear of her?
Derek: Um, well, I used to hear her when she was with Tricky*. But then she went solo and just released an album and it’s really, really good.
Steph: Cool. Was that your CD then or was that streaming or?
Derek: Uh, that was my CD.
Steph: Oh. That’s awesome.
Derek: Yeah. I definitely had to buy it once I heard it. It’s a pretty mellow CD but I like the music a lot.
Steph: Do you have any idea where she’s from?
Derek: Uh. She’s from England actually.
Steph: Oh. Is she really? Cool. Yeah. I really liked her sound.
Derek: Yeah. You should check it out.
Steph: Definitely.
Derek: All right.

Discussion
* Martina Topley-Bird* is really great. No kidding! It’s not very often that I hear music for the first time and decide that I like it.
Her sound was really mellow, like Derek said. It really reached out to you. It was quiet music and it was easy to relax to.
Some people like mellow music, while others don’t really care for it. What kind of music do you prefer?
