Lesson
Hey, everyone!
Are you a parent? Have you ever had to deal with a school crush your little ones had?
It turned out to be quite a challenge in my case. My 12-year-old got his heart broken twice this year, both times with dramatic consequences, like refusing to go to school or making statements like: "Girls are so stupid!"
So I was browsing the net looking for parenting tips on how to help a child deal with school crushes, when I came across this interview with 9-year-old Alec Greven, who wrote a book called "How To Talk To Girls".
Of course, this is a children's book targeting boys and girls his age. But when you give it a deeper thought, there are a couple of things we all need to be reminded once in a while. Like, "Life is hard, move on!" That is, you fail in something, just admit that life is hard, get over it and go on with your life.
Everything started with this school assignment he had in which he had to observe the world around him. So he decided to watch the way boys and girls interact during recess. Eventually, he wrote this book based on his findings.
He has also appeared in The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Today Show, and Inside Edition.
Leave your comments:
- Do you remember some of your own elementary or middle school crushes?
- Did you find anything in the interview that applies to grown up relationships? Or, do you think school crushes have nothing to do with grown-up crushes?
That would be interesting to know.
