Mustaches, beards, goatees, soul-patches. There are many options for men who want to sport some facial hair. Facial hair has become so trendy that there are even contests to see who can grow the best mustache or longest beard.

Not every man wants to go the hairy-face route, though. Some men find beards itchy. Others don’t like worrying about getting food caught in their mustache. But it’s not as if shaving’s all that great either. Find out Mason and Jeff’s thoughts on facial hair in this fashion English lesson.

Mason:  Jeff, have you heard of the Movember tradition?

Jeff:  Uh, what is that? It sounds familiar.

Mason:  Well, it’s where many gentlemen will agree to grow mustaches, ostensibly to support awareness for male cancers, but mostly it’s an excuse to grow a mustache.

Jeff:  I noticed it looks like you’re in on that.

Mason:  Yeah. But I feel like my mustache isn’t really that great.

Jeff:  I’ve tried the same thing before. Not for Movember, but I don’t know, I have pretty heavy facial hair…

Mason:  Yeah, you look like you could grow a mighty beard.

Jeff:  I can grow a beard, but the mustache is a little lacking. I have grown a beard, but let me tell you, I don’t like it.

Mason:  Why not?

Jeff:  It’s uncomfortable. I don’t know.

Mason:  You can’t get past the itchy phase?

Jeff:  I’ve gotten past the itchy phase, and I’m not a fan. But I also hate shaving. Isn’t it a pain?

Mason:  It’s a total pain. And yet, have you ever gotten a shave, a professional shave?

Jeff:  I have not. But I’ve been looking into it.

Mason:  Let me tell you, my friend. There is no greater pleasure for a man on this earth than getting a professional shave from an old dude in a dingy barber shop.

Jeff:  That’s a bold statement.

Mason:  I know it sounds terrible, but it’s amazing.

Mason asks Jeff if he’s heard of a tradition called “Movember.” It turns out that it’s a combination of “mustache” and “November,” during which men are encouraged to grow a mustache for a month. Jeff notices that Mason is participating.

Jeff has grown facial hair before, too, though not for a particular reason. He’s had a beard, but he doesn’t really like it. He finds it uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, Jeff doesn’t really like shaving, either. Mason asks if Jeff has ever gotten a professional shave. He hasn’t. Mason strongly encourages Jeff to get one. He thinks it’s one of the best experiences he’s ever had.

If you are a man, do you like having facial hair? If you’re not, what do you think of facial hair? In your country, is it popular for men to have beards or to be clean-shaven? Do you like having a professional shave or haircut?

Mahtab, I totally agree with you.

Moreover, I dont like to have my face scratched because of laziness of a man as all of them say that they care about their facial hair, while they often forget to shave them up in time.

Julito, lolssss. I guess men who wear mustache and beards are never hungry coz they have food on them.:)))

I think men who don’t like wash themselves, shave or care of their appearance wear them.  They also look much older. By the way, what a nasty thing to kiss with them. I have tried. Never again!

I had a moustache but my friends made me shave it saying I look too older whit it. Now I don’t have any facial hair. I think it’s better but shaving everyday is really terrible. That’s why I let them grow at the weekends. I think shaving everyday is not healty either. It demages our skin.

Women are really lucky about that.

Firstly I must thank God I’m not a man!

I think its so hard you have to shave your facial hair everyday!

But on the other hand (Pardon me!) I hate all kind of mustache or beard!

No one in my family have them and they shave their facial hair everyday!

I’d like clean-shaven men and I cant remember any man with beard or mustache that I called him handsome!:))

In my country many men have beard or mustache but I really dont like them and I think to be clean-shaven is much more sanitary!:)

I don’t like having facial hair or a heavy grown moustache. Sometimes I sport a three-day beard because I think it looks stylish and fits good to my face.

I’ve never joined a professional shave so far but I’d like to try it out one day. Professional haircuts are very common in my country. I always go to the same hairstylist to cut my hairs and it’s always a pleasure to go to her because she is got the magic touch and does it always perfect and in a verry passionate way. She is a cutie.

It has never crossed my mind that  I  needed a facial makeover, i am not against it though ,is that  growing a beard , mustaches or goatees  is not for me. I prefer the daily grind  of  shaving  and  splashing  my face  with an after shave lotion. Movember´s movement is  advising   to  new supporters  that at a restaurant they should avoid   ordering ” spaghetti  alla bollognesa ” , good point …. food caught in a mustache or beard is only allowed in a dingy  restaurant.

Irene, you know,it was an idea of my daughter to write about facial hair of Father and Santa, and I know why. 2years ago my friends, secretly from us,invited Father frost to my home. There were several children except us,adults.Until Father was playing with kids (poems, games, diffr tasks and ,of course, presents) I was setting the table .When a program came to its end and kids were satisfied ,Father was quite hungry. He sat at the table and began to eat,but it beard caused him uncomfortably to eat easy and in a proper way.He became nervous and wanted to take it off but couldn,t as children were around-it was our time for laughing.

well ..  in our tradition having a mutache is a sign of MANLINESS and with a goatee you will probably be one of the most wanted by chicks and without them you are nobody.

Palestinian Territory, Occupied

firstly  this topic very Enjoyable , I would like to share my opinion about it , for me I have a goatee , Really my look has become more beautiful with it, frankly I can’t live without my goatee , as the same time sometimes I prefer to having beard when I have some problems I like to having a long beard , there are many men prefer to having beard and moustache  and goatee ,It’s depend on the culture , In Palestine we have Diversity , everyone has the right to choice anything match with his Principles , on the other hand some people are traditional .

I guess we should do anything fit with our principles , I oppose the idea which says our lives make us happy people or sad people , I totally agree with the idea which says the life is short you should know If you don’t exploit your time you will loss everything without any enjoy .

The greatest of God is the woman doesn’t have moustache or goatee , Can you Imagine If the woman has bread or moustache what will be happens , I thinks It will be very disgusting , on the other hand they are suffer from cut the hair when they want to having love or the marriage .

Finally we should care of our look , try to be in a good Image for many reasons .
