Are you an adrenaline junkie? Does jumping out of an airplane sound like fun to you? Or do you think you might get freaked out? Skydiving is a very popular and very insane sport. The first time you go skydiving, you have to go tandem. This means that when you jump out of the plane with the parachute, you are attached to another person. You jump together!

You can also go skydiving from a hot air balloon. This might be slightly less freaky because the hot air balloon is not moving at 100 miles an hour. The balloon is gently floating at a comfortable 5,000 feet in the air. And then you jump. Simple as that. English, baby! encourages all learners to have a parachute handy when you are going skydiving.

Andy wanted to get his girlfriend to go skydiving. Listen as he tells Romeo about a video that made his girlfriend afraid to go.

Andy_H:  Yo, Romeo! I saw the craziest video on YouTube. This guy going up in a hot air balloon, you know? Everybody’s, like, got parachutes on. They’re all skydiving.

Romeo:  Right.

Andy_H:  And then this guy’s, like, “You know what, I don’t need this!” He takes the parachute off and throws it off the hot air balloon!

Romeo:  No, way! You’re joking, right?

Andy_H:  This guy’s an idiot! So, he does this, and all of his friends are like, “What are you doing? Like, you need that.” And he’s like, “No, I don’t! I’m going to live forever!” And he jumps off.

Romeo:  Faces of Death! It’s that video, right?

Andy_H:  No, no, no, no, no. All of his friends just jump out with him…

Romeo:  OK.

Andy_H:  And, like, they eventually find this guy…

Romeo:  Ah, right.

Andy_H:  And he holds on to them, and the parachute goes off. But, you know, I was watching it with my girlfriend because I was like, “Hey, maybe we should go skydiving. Maybe if you see videos about it, you’ll be a little more comfortable with it.”

Romeo:  Sure.

Andy_H:  So, now she’s never going to go skydiving.

Romeo:  Naturally.

Andy_H:  Naturally, right? So, there goes my chances of doing it.

Romeo:  But, when you think about it, if you’re going with people that you trust, then I guess the moral of the story is, you can strip yourself of any safety. And know that you can confide in your friends or count on them to, you know, support you, right?

Andy_H:  This is also true.

Romeo:  Right. So, like, if anything, that could also, like, be positive, right? I don’t see why you’d get freaked out by somebody who’s insane enough to take their parachute off and jump out of a flying plane.

Andy_H:  Hey, dude! Hey, dude! Hey, dude!

Romeo:  Yeah?

Andy_H:  You want to go skydiving?

Andy tells Romeo about a video he saw on YouTube. In the video, a group of people are going skydiving out of a hot air balloon. One of the skydivers jumps out of the balloon without his parachute, but his friends jump out after him and catch him. They save his life. Andy watched the video with his girlfriend, and now she will never go skydiving.

Romeo thinks the story is positive. It shows how important it is to have friends that you can count on. He says there’s no reason to get freaked out just because your friend jumps out of a plane without a parachute. Andy then asks Romeo if he will go skydiving with him.

Have you ever gone skydiving? What is the most dangerous sport you have played?

I never did skydiving. I saw some images of Wingsuit that is related, but the jump is from a montain. The sensation of freedom is amazing, I think i would probably prefer this one.

The most dangerous sport i ever tried was surf, wich I have practiced for three years.
