“Hit me” is usually used to describe the time when your mind changes. When something happens to you that makes you think differently, something has hit you. For example, when you can’t decide what you want for dinner, but then all of a sudden it occurs to you: You want pizza! You could say that the idea of having pizza for dinner hit you. Or, if you’re taking a test, and you can’t think of an answer – the answer could hit you, and you’d be able to pass the test.
