Migs |
Migs: So, dude. When are you going to Japan again?
John: Uh, this Sunday. Why?
Migs: Well, I was just thinking. Sunday is Father’s Day. You’re gonna miss it.
John: Oh, shit, that’s right! I’m gonna have to figure out something to do earlier.
Migs: Maybe you should take your dad to the circus on Saturday.
John: Yeah, that’s a good idea. It’s still in town, isn’t it. Do you know anyone that went?
Migs: My friend Sarah went. She said the show was dope.
John: Yeah, I guess now that I think about it, I remember reading something in the, uh, newspaper about it. But they also said it was 60 bones for a ticket. I don’t know how I’m going to swing that.
Migs: Yeah, it’s pretty expensive, but I heard if you see it in Vegas, it costs like 90 bucks, so it’s a pretty good deal.
John: That’s true, and I’ve only got a couple of days to work this out, so I better get on the internet and start hunting for tickets.
Migs: Yeah, it’s a good idea. Get to it.
John: Yeah, ok.
Migs: Wasn’t your mom in the circus?
John: Uh, no, I thought that was your mom.
Migs: Yeah, right.

Discussion
Yes, this discussion is very true. I’m going to Japan on Father’s Day. So now I’ve got to find something to do the day before, and hope my dad isn’t busy. The laughing in the end was because of the joke Migs made. In the US, people sometimes make jokes about other people’s mother. It’s supposed to be an insult, but because we are good friends, we can just laugh about it. To say that your mom is in the circus is a strong insult because there are so many strange people in the circus. Do you celebrate Father’s Day in your country? If so, please come to the Ebaby! Message Board and share what you do on this day at the “Life Goes On” section. Until next time,—John
