Tanis: Hello?
Zach: Tanis?
Tanis: Oh hi!
Zach: Hey this is Zach.
Tanis: Hey what’s up?
Zach: Not much. How’ve you been?
Tanis: Oh my gosh, pretty good. Just real busy. I’m ready for the weekend.
Zach: Cool. Well hey, listen, do you have any plans this Saturday?
Tanis: Uh, well, there’s something I’m supposed to go to, but I’m not that thrilled about it.
Zach: Uh, well, skip that and um, at eight o’clock you need to come to, um our party.
Tanis: What party?
Zach: My partner Mike Vaughn and I are hosting an open house for our new office.
Tanis: Oh, that’s gonna be so fun! When is it?
Zach: Um, it’s this Saturday at eight and it should be pretty fun. We’re gonna, um, provide a couple kegs of beer, and make some sushi, and have some other ours’devours, and, uh, you know, just come as you are, and bring, bring a friend if you want, oh and also, um, we’re gonna have some artwork dispalyed, uh, provided by the Blackfish Gallery.
Tanis: Oh my gosh, how fancy Zach. You’re going all, uh, high class on me.
Zach: Yeah, um, it’s, it’s it’s kind of a, uh, upscale soiree... so, um, but do you think do you think that John can come too?
Tanis: Oh, i’m sure that he can. Well Zach, I can’t wait. I think this is going to be so fun. I’ll see you on Saturday night at eight.
Zach: Yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing you guys, and uh, we’ll see you on Saturday.
Tanis: You got it. I’ll be there with bells on.

Discussion
The conversation above can be difficult to follow, but it is a great example of how friends casually speak to each other. Take time going through the dialog between Zach and I. Listen especially to how our tone of voices change during the conversation, and what those changes mean. Can you hear the teasing sound in my voice when I tell him his party will be a high class event? What do you think this means?
If you have questions please come to the Life Goes On message boards and ask them! We love to answer your Real Life questions!
