Quote

1. Quote - Listen to the quote and guess what the slang means.

“She’s a very good singer and dancer. I’m telling you, it’s freaky.”
- Madonna, talking about her daughter.

Definition

1. Definition - Study the definition.

strange, abnormal, unusual, special, different from the rest
(Freaky can have either a positive or negative connotation. A ghost or a scary monster can be freaky, but so can an amazing athlete or a talented musician.)

2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.

Whenever someone or something is very different from the rest, you could say that it is freaky. However, be careful when you use the term. Some people might take offense to being called freaky. For example, if you see a person who has bright green hair, you probably shouldn’t tell him he looks freaky, because he might think you’re saying that he looks scary. However, if you see a person with bright green hair, it would be OK to tell your friend that you think the person looks freaky. Your friend probably won’t take offense to the description.

Examples

1. Examples - Hear some example sentences.

””Jeff can jump so high. He’s less than six feet tall, but he can easily dunk a basketball. It’s freaky.”“

””My mom has a freaky memory. She can remember everything. She even remembers things from 30 years ago.”“

””That guy looks freaky. I think we should stay away from him. Let’s cross to the other side of the street.”“

””I went to a haunted house last year on Halloween. It was really freaky. I was scared the whole time.”“
