Clip: In this scene, Woody is talking to Jessie about having an owner and how nice it feels to be loved. Jessie is sad because when Woody talks about his owner, it reminds her of the girl that used to play with her.

Woody

Jessie

Woody:  Hey, whatcha doin’ way up here?

Jessie:  I thought I’d get one last look at the sun before I get packed away again.

Woody:  Look, Jessie, I know you hate me for leaving, but I have to go back. I’m still Andy’s toy. Well, if you knew him, you’d understand. He’s…

Jessie:  Let me guess! Andy’s a real special kid, and to him, you’re his buddy, his best friend. And when Andy plays with you, it’s like, even though you’re not moving, you feel like you’re alive. ‘Cause that’s how he sees you.

Woody:  How did you know that?

Jessie:  Because Emily was just the same. She was my whole world. You never forget kids like Emily, or Andy. But they forget you.

Woody:  Jessie, I didn’t know…

Jessie:  *Just go. *

Discussion

This is a sad conversation between Woody and Jessie. Both of them feel badly about what is happening and you should be able to tell by what they are saying. There isn’t much slang in it, but it’s still good to read over and try to understand. I really liked this movie. If you don’t have kids, you don’t usually have a reason to go to see a cartoon like this. But if you get the chance, I recommend it. I give it an 8 out of 10. From the front row, John
