One of the most popular kinds of albums is a “Best of” album. Bands who’ve been around for a long time often release these kinds of albums to satisfy their true fans. “Best of” albums feature a band’s biggest hits in their life as a band – thus their alternate name, “Greatest Hits.” “Best of” albums often become huge hits themselves because they’re filled with so many good songs.
Read on to learn more about the best “Best of” albums of all time.

The biggest selling album of all time in the United States is a “Best of” album. The Eagles Greatest Hits 1971-1975 has sold even more copies than Michael Jackson’s Thriller. It features 10 songs that mix country, folk, and rock. It’s music that’s easy and enoyable to listen to, giving it appeal to people of all generations.
Several recent “best of” albums have made a big splash. The Beatles One was number one on the charts for several weeks and features classics like “Love Me Do,” “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” and “Can’t Buy Me Love.”
Elvis Presley, known as “The King,” produced released 30 songs that topped the charts. ELV1S 30 #1 Hits contains all of them, including “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Hound Dog,” and “Love Me Tender.” It’s the best album you can get if you’re a new Elvis fan. A dance/electronica remix of “A Little Less Conversation” became a huge hit this year, bringing Elvis up to date.
U2’s The Best of 1990-2000 features one of my favorite songs in history – “One” – as well as smashes like “Mysterious Ways” and “Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of,” but it’s not nearly as good as their other greatest hits album. Best of 1980-1990, with songs like “Pride (In the Name of Love),” “New Year’s Day,” “With or Without You,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” and “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” is way better.

Discussion

There are so many good “Best of” albums that there’s no way I can tell you about all of them – but there are two more you should check out: The Rolling Stones40 Licks and Nirvana by Nirvana.
“Best of” albums are definitely the way to go if you want to get lots of amazing music on one CD.
Rock on,
Migs
